MEET JABARI
My name is Jabari and I am running for Congress as an Independent Democrat because we need something better. What our current elected leaders isn't cutting it, and we need a new approach that benefits the working and middle class for once.
Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Jabari knows first hand about how political corruption, empty promises and disinvestments affect our community.
Gas is soaring for a war we didn't want. Rental cost is keeping young adults from saving for a house, and the cost of basic groceries is absurd.
My background is in Healthcare management, long-term care and health information and informatics management. I studied Health Policy and Administration focusing on childhood food insecurity, because my life goal is to end childhood hunger.
Let's work together and choose something new. Lets put community over politics, and people over profits. Not the other way around.
WHERE I STAND
Healthcare for All
Hospitals are closing left and right. The politicians running now have been in office since I was born. I studied healthcare management and long term care management. I studied health policy. But as long as we have the bueracracy stoping real change, insurance is going to be not possible, prescriptions and services will be a luxury no one can afford.
I will work across the aisle, starting NOW, to educate law makers on how to get out of this mess. No more partisan games. People are dying.
Taxing Extreme Wealth
Since Ive been born, wages have not grown with the amount of inflation many of us face. Yet, the number of billionaires continue to rise. They use loopholes, and corrupt politicians to get ahead, while the average person cant afford essential things.
We must stop the use of loopholes and tax breaks for only the rich.
Universal Child Care
The cost of child care for so many working families is completely not possible. Many parents are forced to make hard decisions, that often lead to a parent not being able to work.
This is horrible. I will fight to make sure that families have the ability to access affordable childcare and fight for fair pay for providers.
Fully Funded Public Schools
For decades, schools in my district have been defunded and closing left and right. Yet, the budget increases every year, but communities don't benefit. It's time to actually fight for students and educators and make sure that schools are funded fully and students have access to quality education.
I also want to expand pathways for STEM, Health Professions, Trades, Manufacturing, and Creative careers. Students should be prepared and ready for a career before they graduate high school.
Affordable and Protected Housing
In Illinois, our government has allowed a rent ban to remain in effect for over 30 years, despite controlling the entire state. As a result, evictions are used as a violent tool against some renters, small landlords are left hanging, while only the system helps big corporate landlords. For homeowners, property taxes continue to skyrocket, and it only continues to rise.
We have to stop kicking the can down the road and actually work together to fix the housing crisis in Illinois for everyone. Now.
Creating a stronger workforce
With corporations laying off workers, and using AI to justify it, many people are losing their jobs along with their health insurance, and ability to provide for themselves.
I am committed to strengthening the workforce so that Americans have better well paying jobs, a shorter work week, and paid family and medical leave.
